Yesterday Infinity Ward Creative Specialist Robert Bowling went on an information dropping streak about the upcoming PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Those looking to play the game on the PC can breathe a sigh of relief as he tweeted that the PC version of the game will indeed be landing on the exact same day as the 360 and PS3. He doesn't have the minimum specs yet, but he says the PC version will have Prestige Mode and plenty of Steam support, which is good news for those who prefer to shoot with a mouse.

Bowling also dropped some info on the PC version's servers, or lack thereof. On the Bash and Slash podcast he discussed the upcoming PC version and let slip that it would not have dedicated servers. Instead Infinity Ward will be using a propriety matchmaking network called IWnet that runs along side Steam to do all matchmaking so that it will "allow matchmaking for our PC users as well, just like you have on a console thatís built in on Xbox Live and PSN." This is obviously a lot different than dedicated servers as IWNet basically works like a console game's multiplayer and matches you up with players of the same rank. According to Bowling there will be "no dedicated server list[s]," and you will rely on IWnet for "matchmaking and your games, but you still have your private matches." Kind of taking what is unique about multiplayer gaming on a PC and crushing it, huh?

Sorry to get you PC gamers all excited in the first paragraph and then come down on you in the second. What do you say? Boycott?

Well, it's not that I care. I got a 360 early this year and switched to consoles and dont regret it at all. So how does it feel? No custom maps, no mods, no dedicated servers? it hurt dunnit?

very old news is very old news.

I myself recently switched from console to PC, simply because the PC community seems a lot more mature when it comes to FPS games (no "dun kell meh whhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa MUMMYYYY" when they get shot after asking not to be. Also, you can choose your own server, a frequent that you enjoy with whoever you want.
Graphics too (oh no, not this debacle of a debate) are admittedly a LOT better on PC, I was at a friends house on Friday and he had Crisis on Ultra, I'd like to see a console reach that level of detail anytime soon. Games are made on PC so they're obviously going to be a lot more advanced.

/off topic crap

On topic though.

PC gamers in my opinion have every right to complain about no dedi servers because it's like IW are being complete tits and using old technology when there's nothing wrong with dedi... Their approach is that of "If it aint broke, fix it" which in my opinion, is pathetic.
The whole XBL multiplayer is done on the same technology that was used when internet gaming first arose, whereas dedi servers are pretty much the standard, I think people have every right to boycott/complain/riot/sleep with a tortoise because it's using old technology against the standard.
It's like NVIDIA deciding that for their next Gfx card they'll be ditching independent processors in their cards and instead just using old out dated technology.
Sure the "wait and pray you don't get paired with someone who's internet is that of a redneck in the middle of nowhere" suits the 360 because it's meant to be user friendly and fun and simply clicking "PLAY" and being thrown into a game is fine, but for PC where people have a mouse, and can do what the hell they want, search filters, uncheck options etc. it makes no sense that PC gamers should be treated this way.

Whatever. I'll leave the petition here, I signed it, everyone else who thinks Infinity Ward are disgracing the PC gaming platform should sign the thing too.

as of posting this link it has 149857 Total Signatures. That's assuming that everyone who's petitioned doesn't buy the game, IW will lose approx $9M. but the community manager dude responded saying they'll look into it.

By "fail", do you mean that IW is trying to make the PC community conform to the shitty standards that consoles have produced? That's exactly what's happening.

There will be mod support, there will be dedicated servers, there will be custom maps (as if there were any decent ones for CoD4..). Trust me. If not at release, they'll patch it in order to shut the annoying whiners up.

I feel that it's moronic to bash something that you haven't used. Sure, the concept of IW Net has pros and cons, and many feel that the cons outweigh everything else, but that's no reason to cry about it.

No, but seriously.. Idk what u on about "mature" cause dude you laugh at those little 9 yr olds crying about dying. Seriously man, because I have like my own little "crew" on the xbox 360 who i know all of them in real life and well its more fun playing with them rather playing on the pc with randoms like.. fantikerz. I dont wanna start a debate or anything but the xbox 360 will always forever be in my heart.

I am david and i am new to this forum. I like so much for playing the game. No I do not think that call of duty Modern warfare2 is going to fail. I like the game.
I am playing on my xbox 360 and it quite good. It is my personal view.I also like the prince of persia, god of war, hitman and assassin's creed.
Assassin's creed II will also launched in this month. It's graphic and adventure is good in trailer.
