Announcing DawnSociety
Posted by Fantikerz on 07/23/10.
As you've all probably noticed by now, Jagex has released the official website for their new game Stellar Dawn. This is a big deal as it likely commits Jagex to releasing the game. For now, there's very little in the way of new information on the website. Some concept art and official media is really all you'll find. The official forum is there, too, of course.
What does this mean for Gaming Heavens? Ah, well it's a good thing you asked. From the day that the official Stellar Dawn website was released, we've been working hard on a new venture. It's called DawnSociety and it is a website devoted entirely to Stellar Dawn.

DawnSociety is mostly separated from Gaming Heavens. The only things that these two sites share are the forum community and the server. We felt that keeping the sites separate, as opposed to making a Stellar Dawn directory on Gaming Heavens, was best. However, we wanted to retain the sense of community on Gaming Heavens and not split them among two different sites and forums. If we ever need to, we can always setup a seperate forum on DawnSociety anyway.
Obtaining content for a new game like Stellar Dawn is much more motivating than doing so for a game like RuneScape. This is because there are already too many websites saturated with quality RuneScape content, but very few for Stellar Dawn. We feel that starting right away with work on DawnSociety, and keeping it separate from Gaming Heavens, is important for future success. Keeping the sites separate helps in that visitors will not become inundated with content that they might not necessarily want. The idea is to keep things simple, for now.
Speaking of keeping things simple, you'll notice how simple the design is for DawnSociety. Since we have very little information about Stellar Dawn, it's hard for us to gather content for the time being. Our website's design reflects this currently, but we hope that Jagex will be able to help us out by releasing more information about their game in the near future. Regardless, we will tell you everything we know.
We're still planning for the release of Stellar Dawn as each day passes. We already have custom-made systems for quests, guides, and items that we have used for RuneScape content in the past. Assuming that those systems are needed on DawnSociety, we can easily (and quickly) build upon them. You can read more about the DawnSociety project here.
That's all for now folks! You can always discuss DawnSociety or Stellar Dawn in their forums!
The Stellar Dawn Website is Now Live

Just a quick heads up to those who may not have noticed. The official Stellar Dawn website is now live! Those who have been following MechScape, and Stellar Dawn later on, have been waiting for as long as 2007 for this. It solidifies the fact that Jagex is indeed releasing a sci-fi MMO.

Meanwhile on the home front, we're cooking up something that will surely please you. It does in fact have something to do with Stellar Dawn, and we've been working hard on it since Stellar Dawn was announced on the 14th. You'll hear more from us later today on the 22nd...
Until then, you're welcome to discuss Stellar Dawn in our new area of the community!

The New Community
Posted by Fantikerz on 06/15/10.
I've just done a writeup listing all of the new and exciting features and additions we've made to the site today! You should check it out if you haven't already. In the meantime, some site features may be broken as we finish setting up our system to work with IP.B3's user authentication.

For now, you should register an account if you haven't already. If you've had an account with us in the past, don't worry, we still have your information and posts active, so all you need to do is log back in here. Note that you may also login using Twitter, Facebook, OpenID, or Windows Live.
In other news, we will release the radio on June 13th. If you're lucky, you may be able to hear a DJ practicing their sets on the radio page. We'll announce when the radio is up and is running 24/7.
Have fun!
